More info

The North American P-51 “Mustang” was probably the most famous fighter of the US Army Air Force from World War II. The “Mustangs” flying in the markings of “Old Crow” and “Glamorous Glen III” are two of the most well known warbirds and are airshow regulars even today. C.E. “Bud” Anderson, a triple-ace, and pilot of “Old Crow,” and the pilot of Glamorous Glen III, formed a friendship when the 357th Fighter Group began training before leaving for combat duty over Europe.

The painting depicts a mission they flew together just as their combat tour ended. Launched as airborne-spares, they ended up flying to the Alps on what became a “joy-ride” while their fellow pilots shot down more than 50 enemy aircraft…the groups’ most successful mission of the war.

EDITION: 2000 signed/numbered by Ray Waddey, “Bud” Anderson and another 357th pilot.
