This is a hard bound book from a report authored by Major Charles L. Brammeier, USAF while a student at Maxwell Air Force Base Air Command Staff College. It is not intended as a "top of the line" book, but rather, produced for it's content. It is about the 475th Fighter Group - "a World War II Army Air Force P-38 unit that flew bomber escort, fighter sweep, defensive combat air patrol, and air-to-ground missions from a series of austere bases in New Guinea and the Phillipines. It was one of the few groups to finish the war with over 500 air-to-air victories, and produced the second - and fifth - highest scoring USAAF aces of the war. " Signed by Harry Brown - 1st 475th Ace Harry Winston Brown (May 19, 1921 – October 7, 1991) was an Army Air Corps second lieutenant assigned to the 47th Pursuit Squadron at Wheeler Field on the island of Oahu during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. He was one of the five American pilots to score victories that day. Brown was awarded a Silver Star for his actions, and was the first Texan decorated for valor in the war. By the war's end, he was a flying ace.
