Ron Kaplan Art - Pete Peterson

Famed Mustang Ace, Richard “Pete” PetersonAutographed aircraft panelPete Peterson is among the top aces of the 357th Fighter Group, the first Eighth Air Force unit to receive the P-51 Mustang. Many missions were flown as long range fighter escort for heavy bombardment of occupied countries and Germany itself. Thus most of Peterson’s 15.5 victories were over the vaunted Bf-109 and FW-190 pilots flying in defense of the homeland.Peterson flew two tours with the 364th Fighter Squadron and during his second tour also served as an instructor for the 357th’s replacement pilots.“Pete” Peterson has autographed this panel #2/6 which depicts the distinctive insignia of the 364rd Fighter Squadron and markings of the 357th Fighter Group.Artwork was researched and hand-painted by noted aviation artist, Ron Kaplan, on actual scrap aircraft aluminum. Mounted to black plexi in a ready-to-hang, black lacquer 15” by 16” shadow-box frame with an ID plaque centered beneath. This is from one of Kaplan’s early panel series – a short edition and thus extremely rare. It’s a great piece with which to start, or add to, your fighter aces signature collection.
